Hi, we are currently on 5.5 and noticed that Niagara Mesh Particles are rendered with the traditional rendering path. There are a couple of threads here on EPS from some time ago that state that a nanite rendering path for Niagara mesh particles is not planned for, but we are curious whether this is still the case, or if this has been planned in since? We are thinking that this in particular will help the shadowing path cost to lean into VSM.
Hi Mark,
I can confirm that we are working on a plugin that will allow Niagara mesh particles to feature Nanite support. The plugin is expected to be released as experimental in 5.7, so we would appreciate it if you would try it out and provide us with feedback. If you check out our UE5-Main stream, you can find the relevant under Engine/PluginsFX/NiagaraNanite. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Hi Tim, that is excellent news! I just had a look at the plugin but sadly we are still on 5.5 and there were too many differences. Our engineering team is working on the upgrade to 5.6 at the moment, so hopefully that one is more compatible, otherwise it might be a bit longer until we will be able to look at the plugin! ![]()
That’s no problem at all. Once you get around to it, feel free to reach out again with any feedback you might have. I will close out this ticket now, but if anything else comes up, don’t hesitate to open another one.
