hey guys,
I’m wondering how i can setup a real moonlight scene in UE4 ? All i have figured out so far is to rotate the directional light under my scene and to change the skysphere parameters into darker values.
This gaves me basically a night like scene wit stars but no moon shine… ? Is there any simple way to change from day to night time ? I saw a blueprint setup for dynamic day and night cycle but a dynamic
solution is no what i’m looking for.
You have to add parameters to the sky sphere blueprint and material to include a second directional light actor that will serve as a moon, then be sure to edit the intensity appropriately according to what time of day it is. I’m working on a tutorial video on this, including making a moon mesh and including it in the scene, and having it set behind the clouds.
Kleiner Baer actually had a video on this as part of his time of day series. It’s a pretty good resource.
Many thanks! I was also looking on youtube but i didn’t found this nice tutorial.
It’s a pity that UE4 didn’t offered a nice and easy time of day setup in the editor like cryengine does, would make things a lot easier.
I also came from Cryengine, but trust me when I say that it’s a million times better to create the time of day system yourself, than to have it provided, because having that understanding of how it all works unlocks a tremendous amount of potential in your creativity and productivity.
Good luck!
