MMO Starter Kit

Guys… I just found out… you don’t want to just mass migrate bps over… I seem to have lost the ability to delete toons… (One of the new 1.5 features.) Seems to have happened when I migrated the bp’s over.

Just a word of caution.

Hey Sean… cool gig… gratz Man

it must also have something to do with mmorpg kit. and I’m not a programmer how to do everything I do not know

Extremely cool work Sean, like what you have going there, keep us updated.

Attention please, I would like to announce I think I have figured out how to move the Project over to another computer, after much cussing and fussing I would like to present to you a video I made for moving the project over.

Give it a check out Tarly and let me know how it goes. Something both of us needed to get working, too bad it caused us to age like 5 years.

Cool beans… I have errands to run today… I will try and get to it later tonight.

TY bud.

Anyone interested in helping me merge/replace existing chat system with Advanced Social System - Marketplace - Epic Developer Community Forums ?

OMG! So many cool assets I need to get, that looks very interesting. I definitely will be picking that up, let me take a look at it and see what is going on.

The main question for this is which server architecture you use.
I work with both packs so i can try to share when i have the work done.
We work with multiple servers, so the first problem with this pack is, that it works with replication on one server. The chat in the mmokit is extern so you can send messages to other servers. My Attempt is to work with the Guild and whisper channels per extern chat from the mmokit and group and global(in our case 1 map = 1 server) with the chat from social pack.
So dependent on the channel in which you wrote the text is replicatet internal on the server or is sent to the extern chat and from there to all servers (guild) or to the server on which the choosen player is (/w).

For the group/guild system i think, we must look which system works better and then we must only chance a few things in the choosen system so that the essential functions from the other works too.

I’ve been able convert the system over to work in the MMO Kit rather easily for the most part. Most of the changes take place in migrating SocialPlayerState to MMOPlayerState. The biggest hurdle for getting it to work though is hooking it up to use the chat server. This is where I am stuck. Basically without the Chat server, the moment you load to a different map/server your party/chat get lost since they cannot communicate across the two servers.

Awesome information about the chat system, I see what you guys are saying, I watched his tutorial on merging the kit, at a quick glance I see what your talking about Arixsus, getting it integrated with the Chat server is a doozy.

Any help Gerrod would be fantastic, so much to put together, where is that clone machine when you need one!

I see what needs to be done, when looking at the ChatConnect files in the source, and then looking at the chat server client source. It should be pretty simple for the most part. As long as you are passing the right information back and forth from the server.

Cool beans, what do I need to buy your for Christmas to make this thing work. I am not beyond bribery.

Update: So, for anyone playing with the Fuse Preview from adobe, if it stops launching you have to uninstall and reinstall, some kind of license issue with it being free right now.

My system is acting up, so I went ahead and decided to do a upgrade so I can develop easier. Any new videos will be delayed for several days until I can get everything moved over to the new system. I really want to cover the Character Customizer and the Social System, looking at probably over a week to be back on schedule.

Post us some cool screenies if got them of any awesome work you have going to keep me motivated!

(Tarly, how did your moving go?)

Well, as you have seen from my prior posts… Migrate and export/import were busting my chops. When I migrated the gamehud.bp It would bring over my mainmenu.bp and that would cause me to lost the delete character portion that is in main menu. I finally asked Code in Skype what I was hosin up and he told me that they are linked (I think was the term he used.) He told me to just copy Gamehud.bp over in windows, so they would not be linked. and SUCCESS… All my gamehud stuff was there. I had been thinking of redoing the main menu for weeks… So, now I am LOL. What took me 2-3 months to do the first time (with more questions to CS than I care to admit) I built my first mainmenu. This time, it took me 3 hours and I just have to add back in my credits button. The wife came home so I had to stop or it would be done today.

Looking forward to seeing if and how Char. Custom and Social System workout. I think the Char custom kit is from the same guys that are doing the Toons for it. I am really looking forward to that also. I was going to try and get thru learning to do FUSE stuff, but, I decided to wait one the toons from the Char. Custom guys.

I hope that there is a pack released from a simple combat system for single player and party’s some time. I asked CS about it and it seems to be a no go from the kit stand point.

After the mainmenu is done, I am moving on to try and understand how to get a compass I found installed.

What about you . What’s your new system look like?

Well, glad to hear you finally got the merging to work. Sounds like your picking up really good on the programming part if you have it down to building in 3 hours.

The Character Customizer is actually pretty cool, I went through the first part of the video tutorial, I manged to get the head part set up with morphs and back into the kit which would allow for a character creation screen. Going to be lots of work, especially bringing your toons inside a editor and setting up all the things you want to be able to change.

That then got me to playing with terrain, and I wanted to open the Kite Demo, you can actually use that in your design if you want they said, unfortunately my poor little old system could not open it in the editor to see how they did the terrain. Then I read you need 24 GB system ram to open in editor, also it’s a 23 GB download. I easily get side tracked. Now that I have intermittent power supply I went ahead and decided to upgrade to a system I could develop on, let’s just say here comes 32 GB system ram and a new 980 video card. Bad part will be moving all this over to new system.

I want to catch up to you in development cycle where I can be looking for a combat system, race is on, (hee hee) have to see what we can find.

Today i worked on a cooldown system for the spells on the hotbar and nearly brought it to run (only the visible part of it is missing).

Nearly all ist provisional especially the look of the interface.

Yes the kite Demo kills my system too  (i7 , 16 gb ram, 960m , rog g501) (better cards make them too fat and i dont like that by notebooks :frowning: ) So i plan to buy a new system in future. I think i7 5930K 6x 3.50GHz, 64 gb ram and 1 or 2 of the new 1080 will work for that

Gerrod.

That is stunning buddy… Very nice shot. I had to save the pic to my desktop then open it to make it big enough to see. But, I am really glad I did. That is AWESOME!

Omg, that is awesome Gerrod! I like what you have designed there, anyway you can get us bigger picture? or you having to keep images under wraps. My old man eyes can barely see that image.

Keep up the great work!

Nemo

P.S. Disregard image request, Tarly taught me what to do.

I hope this one is bigger:

The upload of the big picture as attachment fail all the time :frowning:

The graphic in the pic is lowered because i must run 2 clients (editor preview) at the same time to test the group functions.

Yup… very cool.

That picture is great, thanks for the inspiration, I so need to get my behind in gear.
