Megalights shadow artifacts

Hi everyone!

I have a problem using Megalights. There are strange shadow artifacts casting from an object with unchecked “Cast Shadow” checkbox.

This strange ‘Shadow’ is very uneven and it changes it’s form when I’m looking on it from other perspective.

This problem only occurs with Megalights enabled.

When I disable “Cast Shadows” on a light source, the problem dissapears, but that’s not a solution for me.

The project is blank, settings are default. I have only enabled “Use Hardware Ray Tracing when available” and “MegaLights”.

I’m using 5.6.0, but this problem also occurs on 5.7.0 Preview.

Please, help if you can. I would like to provide additional data if it helps.

Its a bug.

There are currently two ways to work around it:

  1. Disable MegaLights screen traces: r.MegaLights.ScreenTraces 0
  2. Change the light shadow method (per-light) to VSM. This however is undesirable as it has additional performance overheads.

Hopefully they will fix this once MegaLights is production ready.
