a way to design custom items and maps
[=gstreetgames;331405]
I would like to see some sort of vehicle pack that has at least 3 different types of enter-able vehicles, ground, air, and sea. Something that developers can use as a basis for expansion into all of their own custom vehicles.
I would also like to see some sort of bare-bones game-type with a simple menu and all other things needed to start ones own custom game type with menus able to start the game off.
[/]
I believe there is a car pack, but more cars the better.
And that second suggestion would be cool, just a template with a main menu, sub menus, save game and load game. All you need to do is start making you gameplay without worrying about the other stuff
Personally being a beginner, I would love to see more free assets like in the UDK/Unreal3. When UE4 became free I was so excited and had to download but upon opening it up and searching the marketplace for some stuff to play around with, I found nothing but like 3 available free assets in the āMarket Placeā. Now I know you can search and find free stuff to import but some times is a hassle, like finding blender assets that can not be imported to ue4 until you put in static meshes, skeletons and export file as FBX. gets very tedious and can not figure half of what you should actually do to import it to a game to make it work correctly. So I would love to see some more free packs of various items and assets that can be directly imported into your game with out learning 15 other programs just to import a tree lmao just a joke but not really

Hey Onimike, there is a toooon of free assets that you can use even commercially. Check out Learn tab!
Definitely want to see more cartoon/hand-painted environment assets. Trees, bushes, ground foliage, terrain textures. That sort of thing.
i would like to see more post apocalyptic/survival/zombie game stuff
first person animations someone?
Some first person anims would be nice. hands + legs

Yep! Learn tab and any of the stuff Epic offers in their demos can be used! (If I remember right, might want to check just in case!) However, you have to use it within Unreal 4, canāt use it else where.
When it comes to the Market Place, I am looking to create some small modular blueprints. I am going to look through the requests once more and see if I can find something but I really liked some that have been created that can be used in a lot of different ways. The blueprint keypad is a good example of , as it seems easy enough to apply to most game types and doesnāt have a lot of integration needed with different characters, etc.
Does anyone have any requests like ?
Anyone interested in:
Zelda Style Pushing Crates? Or maybe a system that allows a character to walk or run along a spline in a similar way to how Tell Tale does a lot of their movement and interaction stuff?
wishlist:
Characters and assets for rpg and adventures
- final fantasy like characters(realistic, cute or low poly would be nice)
- summon creature pack
- zelda like characters and enemys
Blueprint ācontrolersā for Kubold animation sets, i wonder why no one have already made one of those, it looks like a mine of gold waiting to be found.
Why donāt you have a tools catalog? I want to submit a polygon reduction tool, it is a standalone app, support both Windows and OS X.
is my website: ://.mesh-online.net/
Iād like to see photo real Hazel trees and Chestnut trees for a Southern England version of the boy with a kite open world.
I see lots of weapon impact and muzzle flashes but no trails, tracers etc for the actual projectiles? Where are the laser bolts, energy beams etc?!
Iāve just been looking through the videos on the Marketplace and canāt see anything like , I was quite surprised!
So is something Iād like to see, unless Iāve missed them?!
Cheers!
I would love to see more animal packs (or single animals). Cant affort the current ones yet (and they seem maybe too lowpoly styled for my project - else they are of course top quality looking), still might get especially the racoon. E.g. Cat, rat, dog or squirrel would be fun to have. The deers from the official kite video would be dream to have too.
In my project, could also use bus and truck model. Some kind of doctor, patient, civilians and other hospital staff would be needed too. But faces would need to have some randomness. Also street gang , dirty homeless people, graffity decals for walls.

What i would like to see, and i really believe that is one thing missing in Unreal Engine, isā¦complete advanced character controllers that can be used for all kinds of gameplay genres, or tutorials that show the process from start to finish!
What i mean is ā¦ok, so you get these so called āgame templatesāā¦where you have a character controller that is VERY, and i mean VERY basic! To give an example, the third person character controllerā¦what can it do besides moving forward, backward, left/right, jump and run?? Nothing else!
Everything else must be added by ourselves. If we want our character to be able to swim, or climb walls, or ledge hang, or draw a weapon, or crouch or whateverā¦we must add it ourselves.
And, i can hear some already sayā¦āwell, whatās wrong with that?ā. Well, whatās wrong isā¦not KNOWS how to do that! Thatās wrong! Iām pretty sure that there are plenty of guys (or girls) that want to create a gameā¦but lack certain skills to make complete character controllers for their game. And, i bet they would even want to learn how to create such a complete advanced character controller, so that next time they wanna make one, they will be able to.
Thereās all these great animations on the marketplace, and i applaud those who make them! Butā¦what are all those great animations, if you canāt create a character controller that can use these animations??
We all know that the character controller is essential to any game! So, why arenāt there any?? Why arenāt there any COMPLETE tutorials on creating one, showing step by step how to make the controller, and explain why it is made that way??
If there are such tutorials, then my apologies. Perhaps iāve not seen them yet.
Furthermore, i think that the guys at Epic should make either the character controller, or the tutorials. Reason beingā¦wellā¦hmmā¦i bought character controller a while back on the Marketplaceā¦but, later i found out that the addon lacks support and that some features are still missing from the addon.
So, my dilemma isā¦i was so excited to have the addon, thinking that the features the addon was going to have, would eventually be in there. But, i was wrong. It happens often (iāve seen it using addons in developed by third parties) that the addon is no longer supported after a while, or the addon doesnāt work well with other addons, etc, etcā¦
And, when i saw that the addon was no longer worked on (or at least not that i know of), my dream of creating my game felt into deep water. Itās really not fun, i can assure you. So, i dropped my game. Because of it.
And, you might sayā¦why donāt you learn to create such an advanced character controller, one that can be used in a variety of game genres (adventure, shooter, fantasy, horror). Well, i wouldā¦IF i could find good and COMPLETE tutorials on the subject!
Donāt get me wrong ā¦i love Unreal engine and the community. Itās just that i believe that is the one thing missing to really get people to make games. Not that a character controller will make a game, but at least you get a solid base to begin with.
To give an example of what i would call a ācompleteā all-purpose character controller:
- must be able to walk forward and backwards, walk/run left and right, jump, crouch, swim, wall climb, ledge hang, draw weapons (both melee and handguns), pick up things, throw things, pull levers, manipulate switches, fight (punch, kick), fall down, grab ledge, climb ladder, die, rope sliding, pole climbing, rollā¦
- damage system, inventory system, weapon pickup system, HUD
- camera system that prevents going through scenery
- footstep sound system based on material, and if possible also footprint system per material, foot IK system
- waypoint system
Perhaps i missed something, but i think most things are listed.
Anyways, thatās just my two cents. I really hope to see such an addon on the Marketplace, and i would buy it for sure. Or, follow the tutorials.
Thanks in advance!

How much do you want to pay for ? Combining all stuff into one controller and get it working with all different kind of environments in a good looking and smooth way is a task for a team of 50 people who work on for years. If you have all those features than thatās basically one quarter of a whole tomb raider game! Maybe a bit exaggerated, but itās nothing one can simply put into one single pack on the marketplace.
I would like to see:
- Female and male character models for the epic skeleton with different clothing options
- Spellcasting animations
- Spellcasting projectile (fireball, lightning bolt, ā¦)
- A character advancement system with a skill tree and quickbar

I would easily pay between $50 and $200 for .

Not really. Iām pretty sure one man (or three at the most) could do . Iāve used some advanced character controllers in another engine that was also made by only one man.
The character controller would work in any environment, because the foot IK would work on any terrain, the footstep soundsystem would work depending on materials, and the same for the footprint system. Climbing ladders is not a dependant on environment, and wall climbing, swimming, rope sliding, ledge hanging, picking up things, throwing, pulling levers, fighting, etcā¦are also not dependant on the environment.

Well, having an advanced character controller with all the features i mentioned, doesnāt make you a game. Thereās still a looooot of work to be before you can actually call your gameā¦a game. You still need the artwork, events, A.I., main menu system, and all the rest a game requires. Game creation isnāt easy, we all know that. But having an advanced character controller will surely help a great deal to get your game started and at least have a good base to start from.
Cheers.
