We’re not sure what’s causing this strange pattern to show up in our glass when using High scalability settings with surface translucency volume. Turning off surface volume makes the problem go away, but also makes the glass not look great. Turning off lumen makes the problem go away as well, but obviously we don’t want to do that. We’re a bit stuck on where to go from here.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open the attached project
- Put scalability to high
- Put AA scalability to medium
- Notice the strange pattern in the glass
Hi,
Thanks for the repro scene. The pattern you see here is caused by the reflection probes of the Lumen translucency reflections. You can see the scale of the effect changing by dialing r.Lumen.TranslucencyReflections.ReprojectionRadiusScale down to 1 or even 0.1.
One way to get rid of the pattern is to increase the quality of reflections by enabling High Quality Translucency Reflections in the PostProcessVolume settings (under Lumen Reflections, requires that the Project Setting High Quality Translucency Reflections be enabled first). This essentially has the same effect as setting r.Lumen.TranslucencyReflections.FrontLayer.Enable to 1. If you don’t see the result below, try increasing the Reflections scalability setting.

Please let me know if this works.
