Light Source not lighting

*I am using 4.10 as I am using a version of Wwise that is only compatible for UE4.10

I would like to see shadows in my map. However, the light source isn’t producing light as I’d expect it to.

The effect I’m trying to get is this, which displays when I tick and untick cast shadows or other light source settings:

…but which then disappears when I build the lighting, giving me this:

*Note: I was ticking and unticking boxes in both screenshots; the issue predates that, and doesn’t appear to be linked to the settings of the light source itself. I may be wrong, of course!

Any ideas?

SOLVED

My level consists entirely of static meshes that I built in UE4 from BSPs. Didn’t realise it doesn’t create a lightmap UV!

For anyone who comes across this post, the solution was to open up the static mesh, scroll down to Static Mesh Settings on the right-hand side and update the Light Map Resolution figure from 4. It’s recommended to use 32, 64, or 128 - depending on the shadow quality you want.
