Hey,
Unreal 5 still does not have proper Light Linking (2 channels extras are not light linking!). This is something that should be implemented.
Every application has, Maya, Houdini, Katana, and even OMNIVERSE!
why does Unreal not?
The idea of light linking is to get away from realistic lighting. (Ask Pixar or Disney Lighting supervisors about it). The goal is to have more artistic freedom and give characters more presence with specific rim lights or other tricks.
Animated Films do not care about 60->100 frames per second. Animation care about the timeline with 24/30 frames per second. So if the technology is still limited((deferred rendering)) to this switch, it is something that should be adapted for films like a plugin or switch.
Crossing my fingers for this implementation.
