On a new Epic account, the Unreal Engine > Library page in Epic Games Launcher 20.3.5 shows no engine versions. The yellow “Install Engine” button and the “+” next to Engine Versions do nothing when clicked, so Unreal Engine cannot be installed at all. The launcher never shows the Unreal Engine EULA. Launcher log shows: “EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles”, “LoadItemFiles: Loaded 0 item files”, “…found 0 entitled apps”. Same issue as other recent threads on this forum. Player Support ticket 27010577 redirected me here.
What Type of Bug are you experiencing?
Other
Steps to Reproduce
Create a new Epic Games account.
Install the Epic Games Launcher (20.3.5) on Windows 11 and sign in.
Open Unreal Engine > Library.
Click “Install Engine” or the “+” next to Engine Versions.
Expected Result
The Unreal Engine EULA appears, engine versions are listed, and Unreal Engine 5.8 can be installed.
Observed Result
Nothing happens. No EULA, Engine Versions stays empty, nothing is queued in Downloads. Log: “EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles”, “Loaded 0 item files”, “found 0 entitled apps”. Tried: PC restart, clearing launcher webcache, full launcher reinstall, launcher 19.2.0 (force-updates and hangs). Nothing helps. Please grant the Unreal Engine entitlement to the account or fix the launcher.
Same problem on my account today (Oct 20), Windows 11, launcher 20.3.5. Install Engine and + are greyed out, Engine Versions is empty, and the log shows “EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles” then “…found 0 entitled apps”.
What I tried, none of it worked: a fresh install, restarts, a full exit from the tray and relaunch. Uninstalling and installing 19.2.0 (EpicInstaller-19.2.0.msi), which self-updated straight back to 20.3.5 and still found 0 entitled apps. Linking GitHub and accepting the Unreal Engine EULA on the account page, then restarting the launcher: still 0 entitled apps. After linking, my GitHub joined the EpicGames org but is on no team, so the source repo is not visible either.
So the Unreal Engine entitlement seems never to be granted to the account; it isn’t a local launcher problem. Could Epic staff grant the entitlement to my account (BryWills), or point me to a ticket form for this? Thanks.
Same issue here. Epic Games Launcher 20.3.5, Windows 11 Pro. Unreal Engine > Library > Engine Versions is empty, “+” and “Install Engine” do nothing, no error message. The launcher log shows: LogCommunityPortalOSS: Display: …found 0 entitled apps. My games show up in the library normally, only the engine is missing.
Already tried: running the launcher as administrator, clearing the webcache, toggling “Hide Game Library”, accepting the Unreal Engine EULA, restarting the launcher and the PC. Nothing changed.
Epic Games Player Support (case #27113383) said this is outside their scope and sent me to Unreal Engine support. It looks like the Unreal Engine entitlement was never granted to my account. Could Epic staff please check and grant it? Happy to provide the full launcher log.
Same issue on a new account (NicoleHerrera24), created Oct 22, Windows, launcher 20.3.5. Engine Versions is empty, “+” is greyed out and “Install Engine” does nothing. Tried restarting the launcher, signing in on unrealengine.com and clearing the webcache. Could Epic staff please grant the Unreal Engine entitlement to my account? Thanks
Same issue here, still present on launcher 20.3.6 (20.3.6-59512232+++UE5+Release-Distro-5.5), Windows 11 Pro (10.0.26200), older account with games on it.
Unreal Engine > Library: Engine Versions empty, the yellow “+” and “Install Engine” are greyed out / do nothing
Trying to install 5.1.1 (needed for a specific game’s modding), but no version can be installed at all
The Game Animation Sample workaround from this thread (add the sample to the library, try to create a project from it, back to Library): “+” still dead
Uninstalling the launcher and reinstalling from a freshly downloaded installer
@Epic staff: this has been reported in several threads since Oct 6 (2838052, 2839440, 2840123, 2840448) with no official reply so far. Could someone check the Unreal Engine entitlement / item manifests on the server side? Player Support keeps redirecting these cases to the forums.
Update: it works for me now, though I can't say exactly why.
Setup: Windows 11, launcher 20.3.6. A clean reinstall alone didn't help (the fresh 20.3.3 installer updated itself to 20.3.6, still `found 0 entitled apps` and `EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles`, "+" greyed out).
I left the launcher open for about 45 minutes. When I switched back to it, the "+" next to ENGINE VERSIONS worked. `EpicGamesLauncher.log` at that moment:
- `FWebPurchaseCommand ... QuickPurchaseState` -> `HandleQuickPurchaseComplete`
- `LogOnlineIdentity: Warning: OSS: Refresh auth request failed. Authorization server requires nonce in DPoP proof`, then a successful retry
- `LogCommunityPortalOSS: Display: ...found 6 entitled apps` (was 0 before)
- `EoshState = Resetting` -> `EoshState = Enabled`, then the Unreal Engine EULA prompt
So it looks like the entitlements were only fetched again after a token refresh. Maybe leaving the launcher running for a while (or anything that triggers a token refresh) helps others too.
Same issue here on launcher 20.3.6 (20.3.6-59512232+++UE5+Release-Distro-5.5), Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200. Engine Versions empty, “+” and “Install Engine” do nothing, no EULA prompt.
Log on every start: “LoadItemFiles: Loaded 0 item files” and “…found 0 entitled apps” (EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles).
Tried: launcher restart, waiting with the launcher open, adding the free Game Animation Sample from Fab (purchase completed, still 0 entitled apps afterwards).
Could Epic staff please check and refresh the Unreal Engine entitlement / EOSH item files on affected accounts? Thanks!
