Hello there. I’m making big map with ocean in UE4, and my notebook makes loud fan noices, overheats and then shuts down. How do I reduce speed at which notebook renders to prevent overheating, maybe at expense of speed of rendering. Thanks in advance
Research GPU/CPU undervolting. But do research first. While relatively safe (if you know what you’re doing), this is not something that should be taken lightly.
There are also power caps for GPUs. Consider looking into how it works. And a CPU can be run at lower frequency, reducing overall power draw and thus generating less heat. Your motherboard’s Bios can already handle that but you need to set it up, every machine is different.
Another solution is to invest money in one of these:
Pretty cheap, works well, you get to keep your current system speed, and you can use it to cool down your plants (name checks out!), wives, children, pets…
Thanks I changed maximal power of CPU and now it works slow, but it doesn’t overheat and shut down.
