Hello.
I hope that someone could give me some advice on how to troubleshoot the following issue. First, these are not the shadow artifacts that most people have when enabling Nanite in a landscape. In my case, those artifacts are actual mesh deformation in the landscape.
Nanite disabled
Nanite enabled
Heightmap used
How to reproduce the issue?
- Create an empty project using UE 5.3.1
- Create a new level “New level” → “Empty open world”
- Save
- Go to “Landscape mode” → “Manage” → “Import”
- Select the heightmap I uploaded previously. It’s a 8129x8129 heighmap created using Gaea.
- Set scale values according to the Landscape Technical Guide. The Gaea scale for the heightmap is 5,000m, so x, y=(5000x100)/8129 and z=5000x100x0.001953125
- Press “import”
- Now, in the “World partition windows” load only a small region to avoid crashes.
- Select the landscape in the “Outliner” → “Details” → Search for “Nanite” → “Tick enable” → Click “Save” or “Build Data”.
- Now you can see the same artifacts as in the previous picture uploaded.
Any ideas about what is happening? I really appreciate any guidance.
