Introducing Unreal Dev Grants

The program is still going as far as we know. There’s really no way of knowing anything because as you mention there are no rejection letters. has recently said that they are caught up to March of this year, but two of my last submissions (One August 2015, the other January 2016) were never even clicked on. My submissions never seem to be even looked at. I pretty much gave up on this program. Good luck if you’re applying, just don’t hold your breath on it.

Thanks for the reply. It is sad to see such an amazing program to be slowly sinking into the abyss.

Hi, i am trying to make a video to show the progress of my game so I can try to get a development , but i’m wondering a few things, first I wonder if i should try to shave the video down to around 3 mins or should I submit the long 11 min footage video (above), I think it is probably too long and plan to edit it down but what if cutting it short shows less progress? and should I try to make it like a trailer? or get someone who knows how to edit more professionally to make it like a trailer?

Allright Rig For Unreal Engine 4

Hi, my name is Shatalov and I am 3D developer and I am excited to introduce you to my rigging system for Unreal Engine.
Allright Rig is an expandable nodes and macros library for automatic creation of character rigs and working with character animation in Unreal Engine 4. The goal is to create a possibility of creation and editing character animation, which will help to make games, previsualization, cinematics and animation movies in Unreal Engine 4.
Right now this system is in a demo version. I applied to the Unreal Dev Grants and if I win, I will finish the roadmap as fast as possible and the system will be free. If not, I will try to sell it on a market place. However, I am making this system for people and the roadmap will depend on customers wishes.

Hey ,

My name is van Kan and I am lead designer on Beam Extreme.
I’ve spend the last few months working on beam extreme and it’s coming together pretty nicely.
I also submitted my game to the unreal dev grants, looking for a small boost which will allow me to add a lot of cool stuff to the project.

A link to the website which also holds a playable demo
Steam Greenlight, please vote :o
We also have a small kickstarter going on at the moment

good luck with your projects! may the force be with you.

I sent an application email May 2nd for our game (with an update May 26th) we are working on and haven’t received a response. Is that normal? Anyone else not get a response from them for over 2 months? I’m just trying to figure out why the response time is so slow.

I’ve sent working prototype over a year ago and file haven’t been downloaded yet…

Zombie Game can be accepted?

Hi Can I submit Zombie Game for PC & for all Devices ? I am going to Purchase Marketplace Assets for this and going to Design Character from my end. I am just Hobbyist and Love lot to Develop game Previously I use Game guru but when I hear about Unreal Engine , I just decided to mode forward with Unreal Engine because of its Friendly Interface. Its better and easy as any once with basic knowledge of programming can develop game by self. Since few month I am learning form to develop game with Unreal Engine 4. and I have recent updated 4.12.5 , and almost completed all videos once.

Laterally I will setup my own game studio and work on Augmented Games for Mobiles, VR Devices and more. All of what I need to have some initial fund for it so I decide to start with Zombie game. All of what I am just fresher with crazy mind to develop game that plays millions of time every day. This is why I am asking before I submitting and wasting your time to review and all, because zombie game are already in market such as Left4Dead. I am big fan of this game and want to break it’s record all time.
Thanks

Well I decided I would like to chime in on this. A few points raised here and on the last round of grants.

They did specify that the grants need to be ready with a prototype and blow them away with how amazing it is. Makes total sense. They did ask that there be some kind of prototype. But that they did not specify how far it has to have been developed.

But here in lies the problem and the seed for my advice to anyone trying to apply for a .

The problem is, to get anything, and I mean anything up to a point that it is truly amazing and gets people to notice it takes at the very least content produced at a professional level. This means a dedicated team or individual with talent to work hard at something for months on end, at their expense, to bring it up to a level that can be worthy of some support. That is just an entry level base starting point. On top of that you have to then be additionally amazing or original with you idea.

That is a tough nut to crack. It is expensive and time consuming to run a team. Even as an individual you have to eat. If you are already amazing at what you do, likely you are a working professional. Or maybe if you are a student you have your other obligations. If you just graduated then you have the pressure to find work. Dedicating time to something like this for anyone, is going to be a challenge.

Getting a team of people behind you, to work with you that are good enough to help you produce content worthy of funding, it means finding professionals. And it means paying them. Finding great people to work for free, simply very much rare if at all.

Teams that work together on projects for free that you see around and are amazing, are usually done by people with paying jobs in that line of work who want to dedicate their free time to a project they love to start their own enterprise.

Then there are companies with funding who have projects. They are paying employees and it might appear that they don’t need the . Maybe they don’t maybe they do. But they are of the level of dedication it takes to do anything well. Professionals working hard. And I don’t know any small companies that are not struggling financially even if they have backing. Things go over budget, it is very difficult to do great work. And it is very expensive and time consuming.

And this is why you see the grants awarded as they are. Plain and simple.

So if you are trying to work for one of these grants, put only your best work forward. If you are doing something all yourself, only do the work on it that you do best. Don’t try to fill in with stuff you are not that good at using sub par material.

If you are looking to build a team then try and find people who are your peers at work or similar jobs.

If you can not say this about yourself. If you can not say that you are above the hobbyist level and that you do something in this area professionally for a living, then likely you are not a candidate who should be submitting. I mean I am not trying to talk people out of submitting. I am trying to talk people into being honest with themselves and rather consider doing their best work before submitting.

You should rather be working to up your skill level. That is the work you need to do before developing a project.

If you are a student at the head of your class, you are one of the best at what you do, likely you have job offers all ready. Probably you are a good candidate for something like this if you can get other students to work with you around other obligations.

In the end. Don’t take something like this lightly. If it seems too good to be true. It is. Everything worth accomplishing is going to be a lot of work and take a good deal of resources.

And being good is not good enough. You should be striving to be amazing. So stick to what you do best, and present that, if that is all you can present. If you can do that and show you are dedicated and that you just need to hire like-minded team members you will be further along to getting a than if you try to toss something together half way.

My opinion.

We have wait for 1 year to post a dev application, we hope this will not be hidden in the middle of tons of applications.

Enjoy it!

EDIT: Seriously though,
in the meantime you should totally set up either a Patreon account or pre-orders on your website as I would gladly send you $10-$50 USD per month to help support the development of this plugin :open_mouth:

Thank you very much Benjamin! I’ll take a look what is that.

Serious - I want this.

Hello Guys,

  • Charismatic 3rd person platformer

Hi all,

I’m part of a group of students from The ! We’ve been working hard the past couple of months to develop a prototype of our concept called !

Check out the reveal teaser here:

Our website with some screenshots:

In a peaceful and magical world, an evil force called ‘The Reaper’ has taken over and corrupted the souls of the innocent.
One hero sets out on an incredible journey to cleanse the souls of their allies and restore peace.

is a 3D action-adventure platformer where you play as an agile fighter.
Use the unique dashing ability and other techniques to pave your way through the world and fight the evil within.
Use and learn abilities to progress further in your journey. Find all the ‘Soul Shards’ spread out over the world, cleanse them, and restore peace.

You should watch out though, ‘The Reaper’ is not to be taken lightly, he is always watching, and an unfortunate crossing seems inevitable.

This is exactly why us at DualFuelStudios love Unreal Engine / Epic Games. They are concentrated on helping and providing the best support and service.
If we got chosen it would be cool. We are a team of 2 and we are both 19 and 18 years old. So this would be a HUGE difference to our games development.

Hey ,
My name is Dalibor Kamnjanac and first of all I want to thank all of you for making my dream of creating games come true, because without community I won’t be able to make anything.
I’m a one man army, this is my first game, it is called “The Last Tree”, and it is 2D side scroller adventure.
The year is 2092, and the tree called Grut is the last tree on earth, and everybody’s chasing him. He has very special skill - TIME SLOWS DOWN WHEN HE MOVES.
Priority is mobile distribution of this game, Android and iOS platform of course, and I’m currently in progress of making announcement trailer.
Here are some screenshots of the game:

Hello guys please take a look on my new Augmented Reality app

GooglePlayStore

I have been working on a project by myself using free assests seen here:

I have many video game ideas in-mind, including brand new genres that nobody has ever thought of before. Unfortunately I’m limited on my budget. If I recieved a from Unreal I promise to bring you all new and amazing games using UE4!

Uhm, you guys know that it wont really help to post your games here, but you have to submit your project description with links through the webpage?
Just saying

And still the submission-form is halfway hidden on the webpage, i only get it when i make the browser window smaller (or play around with the css in chrome :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Cheers,
