Hey,
Since the 5.2 Unreal Editor update, I can’t launch any session on my biggest project.
I had no idea what was the error because the only error was “Failed to validate” but since the update 2 days ago I finally got some errors.
The main problem seems to be “KERNEL32.DLL” & “ntdll.dll”
When I searched to know what this errors means, I found it could happen if the file was corrupted.
So I think my project is corrupted.
Can someone tell me what I can do ?
I had the exact same issues and strange errors today/yesterday, I thought it was my projects but I couldn’t start any of them, they all had the same issue since the update but I think I just fixed it 10 minutes ago so maybe one of these steps will help
What I tried
- I’ve tried resaving all assets in the outliner (select all > right click > resave all) didn’t seem to work
- I’ve tried verifying Fortnite files and I tried updating Nvidia drivers, Nvidia update seems to have removed the kernel error but then I got other warnings, and the project still wasn’t loading, couldn’t validate or start any session, so one of those could have been the solution
- Didn’t get any real errors after the Nvidia update but a lot of warnings, and still I couldn’t start a session. By looking at other posts, and seeing that most my warning were textures related, and people have been having problem with importing packs with texture too big, I tried to change LOD Bias to 2 on all the textures that I imported, that were used in the scene, that were giving me warnings and then it worked, I could start the session again correctly when all those texture warnings were gone in the logs
Hope it helps!
Thank you for your report! We would like to look into this further, would you be able to submit a bug report using the form available here? Fortnite Creative
I allready submit the bug here 2 and 5 days ago, but I didn’t got replied.
Hey,
Thank you for your advices
How you changed the LOD Bias to 2 ? I don’t find where to do that
Ok thank you
Unfortunately, my setting was already on 2 and nothing changed.
Ok, I wanted to make an update to show that the problem still hadn’t been solved (because I’m convinced that my project is corrupted, considering the KERNEL32.DLL and ntdll.dll errors).
By creating real errors this afternoon, I managed to launch a session for the first time in 2 weeks. (Even though I was stuck in the waiting lobby because the errors prevented me from connecting to the game).
But the problem was that once the errors had been fixed, I found myself unable to launch a session again.
I’m trying to provide as much information as I can in the hope that someone will be able to help me one day.
All in all, I’ve spent almost 1,000 hours with my colleagues on this project, including 200 hours fixing bugs, and I can tell you that I can’t fix this bug on my own.
