I am unable to launch a UEFN session

Summary

Hi Epic Games Support,

I am unable to launch a UEFN session. Every time I try to start/playtest my island from UEFN, Fortnite opens but then disconnects with this error:

“There was a problem”
“Network Connection Lost”
(errors.com.epicgames.common.processing)

In the UEFN log, the session reaches the Valkyrie Beacon connection step, then fails with:

UNetConnection::Tick: Connection TIMED OUT
FailureType = ConnectionTimeout
ValkyrieBeaconClient ConnectionTimeout
Failed to connect to beacon
Network error occurred when connecting to a server after matchmaking completed

This happens again and again when launching the session. Matchmaking seems to complete, but the connection to the server/beacon times out after around 30 seconds. My log shows the failure during ConnectToBeacon / ValkyrieBeaconClient. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

I already tried:

  • Restarting UEFN, Fortnite, and Epic Games Launcher
  • Restarting my PC
  • Verifying Fortnite files
  • Verifying UEFN files
  • Clearing local cache/AppData folders
  • Trying again multiple times

Please help me check if this is an account issue, UEFN server/session issue, region issue, or a network/routing problem. I can provide the full log file if needed.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Unreal Editor for Fortnite.
  2. Open my island/project.
  3. Click Launch Session.
  4. Fortnite opens and matchmaking/session setup starts.
  5. After the session tries to connect to the Valkyrie Beacon, it times out and disconnects.

Expected Result

The UEFN session should launch successfully, Fortnite should connect to the playtest server, and I should be able to test my island normally.

Observed Result

The session fails after matchmaking completes. Fortnite shows “There was a problem” and “Network Connection Lost” with errors.com.epicgames.common.processing.

In the UEFN log, I repeatedly get:

ValkyrieBeaconClient ConnectionTimeout
UNetConnection::Tick: Connection TIMED OUT
Failed to connect to beacon
Network error occurred when connecting to a server after matchmaking completed

The timeout happens around 30 seconds after trying to connect to the beacon.

Hi @Flak , ist`s all the same problem and you see that many creators have this issue…

I think you want to bundle all those issues in Players can't join my map in public, Matchmaking error (errors.com.epicgames.common.processing)

(but I think it`s not a suitable topic for that problem!)
