I am trying to make a ship move around the level I created on its own as part of the scene

I have placed a random ship on top of my water. I want to make the ship move around the scene randomly or in a pattern. Either way, it cannot be dependent on what else is going on in the game. I am new to this and request either step by step instructions or a video. Thank you for your help and support.
