How to fix sharp shadows on the mesh

Hi Guys
Can you help me how can solve this problem? I would like to have soft shadows I need to render a video from this, don’t need high performance.

#shadows

Is it maybe just sharp normals (flat shading) on part of your model? Does it persist when you rotate it / rotate the light? (Is it the same on all sides of the mesh where shadows fall)

So you think that could be the model issue not the Unreal setup? I were import this fbx to Maya but everything there looks smooth

Some things that you can try

a) Check in your static mesh if you have “Normal Import Method” set to “Import Normals”
b) Check you shadow resolution settings (try increasing resolution)
c) Check if you are using cascade shadow maps, if so try to increase the number of cascades and also try setting exponent to a lower value.
d) Try enabling “Dynamic Inset Shadow”
e) Increase Lightmap Resolution of the receiving surface
f) Try scaling up the shield for a moment and see if the shadows change

Non of those were work for me but I found the problem. I was the ShadowMaps Method that was set to Virtual Shadow Maps.
Now I have another problem like those edges

I check those in Maya but I don’t see this issue there only in UE

Check if you dont have inerted normals. Turn on normal visualization in your 3d siftware and check if some aren’t flipped (towards the inside of the model instead of outside)
