How to create a curved light?

I use a lot of curved accent lighting effects under risers and on soffits. In Vray you can change any mesh into a mesh light to achieve these curved lights.

I have been experimenting with emissive materials, but when you don’t see the emissive material directly the light doesn’t glow on surrounding materials. I’ve tried checking and unchecking many different options and baking multiple times, but can’t get it to work.

My second effort was using rectangle lights. I can get a sloppy segmented curve with those, but it takes way too long and the results are not anything to brag about.

What’s the best way to achieve this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

The same question

Hi, Did anyone ever answer this? Thanks!

I have the same question! The same issues: multiple rectlights are a pain, and emmissive materials are unreliable.

Bumping this! Would be awesome to be able to bend rect lights, or to use any mesh as a light.

Please make this happen, we need this so much in ArchViz
