We need the Colored Translucent Shadow because we have a lot of colourful cathedral-stained glass windows.
We can easily get it in UE4 or maybe Non-Lumen UE5.
But, since this project must work with Lumen, is there any approach that allows me to get a similar result?
Using some trick to fake a similar one is also welcome.
There’s been a few different threads of discussion/options discussed, but assuming you want otherwise-dymanic lighting, you could go with decals or light functions. There’s a UE4 branch that supports real-time RT caustics, but I’d stay away from that as it’s relatively unstable and challenging to use IMHO.
I believe the next big thing the lumen team said they were targeting was glossy reflection noisiness, but assuming they’re taking a cue, I think some support of colored shadows, if not true caustics, should come eventually.
