How do I create uniform ambient light?

Hi, I’m trying to create uniform ambient lighting but i find all my surfaces facing down are much darker than those facing up when I use a sky light.

Is there any way to control the ambient brightness of downward facing surfaces?

Or better yet change the direction the sky light is coming from?

I had a search on the forums but could find anything related to this issue.

in the details panel of the skylight there is an option call “lower hemisphere is solid color” turning that off will get rid of the black on the bottom of the mesh in the pic.

if you add a directional light that basically acts like a sun you can rotate to change the direction the light comes from.
