Hello, Im having a very annoying problem when it comes to the lighting of grass in my game.
Its just wayyy too dark on the side not facing the light. I dont usually come to forums but no amount of internet searching and chatgpt is solving this for me.
Heres a video of what it looks like: Dropbox
Ask me any questions that could help in solving this. Thank you.
Hello, OncePhased, I found some post that can help you. Apologies for not identifying the specific problem. Here are some possible solutions.
In this post they touch on several topics that have to do with grass
I’m still somewhat new to unreal, and have been following this wonderful [tutorial][1] to create a simple medieval scene. I deviated a bit since I’m looking to build more of an actual game where you can run around (rather than just a static scene), and I was going for a different lighting effect and overall mood (something a bit more vibrant and game-like). But overall, I’m quite pleased with how it’s turning out so far.
However, there’s one issue I’m not quite sure how to go about figuring out…
Hello everyone;
actually i have a problem with my grass shadow, it seems the grass shadow doesn’t look good from far distance; i found it is due to the “Directional Light” rotation, here is a photo before changing the “Directional Light” rotation:

as you can see the shadows doesn’t look good (or at least i don’t like it), but when i change the rotation of my “Directional Light” it looks better, like this:

i want to know is there any way to change the grass shadow like the above ph…
For a game, You shouldn’t have shadows on grass at all, because performance is a concern.
For non games, use a skylight (whatever the non directional light is) and edit the bounce light options.
