GPU Crash Dump, GPU Crashed or D3D Device Removed Problem

Hello there,

I keep getting the [GPU Crashed or D3D Device Removed] error every 5 minutes or so and it crashing my system.
I have extended the tdr delay and tddidelay to 240.

I have a Ryzen 5 3600 (a Ryzen 9 5950X on the way) and a 10 gig RTX 3080.

I have done all the driver stuff, reinstalled windows, upgraded my ram, recreated my map in a brand new project, reinstalled unreal several times. I have spent 80% of my developing time on this problem…

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers.

Assuming you’ve done all the obivous stuff… have you checked hardware? - like what PSU specs?

Not wattage but how many amps per rail.

RTX cards really need 70A or above, there are many 1000W+ PSUs with only 40A per rail so you really need to read the small print

What version of DirectX is enabled in the project? If it is version 12 - then it is STILL not stable…
Enable DirectX 11 in the project settings.

One thing you could try, is in your engine defaults.ini increase the allocated vram

Hey, thanks for the reply. I bought a new 1200 W PSU a few weeks back.

Hi, I am using DX12. I think its needed for the Lumen + Nanite combo.

Hi, ill give that a go now. I had been bumping it up in unreal but to no avail so far.

Im not sure on amps per rail etc but its a pretty powerful PSU. I have maxed out stuff like Wukong on cinematic and it seems to run fine.

Update:

I got a new cpu: Ryzen 9 5950X.
I changed drivers to non-studio and it seemed to work a lot better (only about one freeze per half hour now).
Just got this on my last freeze:

Still have the same problem. No fixes have worked. I am considering moving to unity at this stage and just remaking my game. I have now wasted 4 months on this project.
