Trying to launch a session and getting a error failed to download assets, any advice? could this be a issue with the servers?

Check your Windows Defender. It may be blocking access. This is what I found and it worked!

Hi,

Good idea There is an article about that in the past and how to add an Exception in Windows Defender
urc.exe and urc.dll get flagged as Malware from Microsoft Defender

Remember to Verify UEFN your installation afterwards other Anti-Virus products will have other ways to add exceptions
