Fortnite MMORPG

It’s a great idea and what I thought UEFN would be about, but right now it is a very long way from being usable for such a project:

Persistence (the ability to save game / player state between sessions) has been broken since last November. UEFN Persistence Announcement

There is no strategy for how player clothing / equipment will intergate with epic skins, this is fundamental to this type of game and very complex to change Player avatar customisation

You can’t hook into existing weapons or create new ones Can we create new weapons thanks to the unreal editor ?

There is no raycast functionality in Verse for testing line of sight Is there a Raycast-like API for collision detection?

I don’t believe you can send players between islands (very useful for instancing adventures / expanding your world system).

It seems hard to think of what you can do apart from bigger / custom Fortnite islands and add your own prop meshes. Yes you get access to trigger events and that adds to the original creative functionality, but I’m not really seeing much more (excepting aesthetics / anims).

My current take on UEFN as a metaverse tool is: come back in a year and see what has happened. Given the numerous and extended launch delays, I’m completely underwhelmed by what has been presented so far.
