To add I think I may know what has caused this to happen on both occasions (in hindsight)
On 2 occasions, I used the “restore from back up” and on both occasions it didn’t change anything, at the time I think I assumed this was just due to autosave kicking in since the backup was made.
But now it’s happened twice to me, I think it’s actually the “restore from backup” that is actually the broken mechanic, see when my progress had not saved, I was back to the restore point in the previous session even though I had saved the map since hitting restore but it was still in the same session, when I’ve not used “restore from back up” I had no issues.
Hi @major_gl1tch - We are unable to reproduce this after quite a few attempts. Could we get your project ID and your client logs so we can take a look?
If you look on reddit you’ll see I’m certainly not alone, others are having the issue, but it is not consistent , but hit and miss,
Firstly let me state I am starting game during my creative sessions, and then returning to island afterwards, some sessions save and some don’t. on the first 2 occasions I reset my map from back up making me initially think it was back up related, but has happened since again without using back up, so using process of elimination I’d say it was something else.
Now I can spend near up to the full 4 hours in creative at a time, and I’m quite sure this was the situation when it didn’t save, like it did not save after that 10 minutes warning that the server will expire. This possibly could be related
The other thing I have done on every occasion is start the game, and return to creative island on game end to do more work , could also be possibly related.
There is certainly an issue, but the cause of it is not fully clear. I can only monitor for what is similar on each occasion , will update if I get any idea’s to a possible cause for it happening.
Can confirm, I’ve had numerous hours of progress in my sessions completely wiped. I have not once used the “Revert from Backup” feature to cause this.
It seems the Autosave feature (and sometimes backing up itself) is the culprit, as it’ll infinitely “save” until you leave the session, it won’t actually save and it’ll revert to before it attempted said save.
I can’t comment on this happening in UEFN as I primarily work in 1.0 but the only real workaround so far is to literally jump in and out of sessions every 20-30 minutes which isn’t ideal whatsoever.
I think xGrimsie is correct, I’ve been watching for what he said , and at times you do get an endless saving icon in the top right corner, from which any progression fails to save, if you start game at this point and then end game your stuck on a screen between the play session and the creative session in some freeze leaving your only exit to be to close the game down.
Good morning, I too would like to acknowledge what I call the “Auto-Saving” Glitch has been happening to many creators including myself, now I am unaware if this glitch is happening in UEFN but it is happening to a LOT of creators in Fortnite Creative below you’ll see info and clips Video of Island Switching not working in FNC. this glitch NEEDS to be fixed asap:
When the “Auto-saving” Glitch occurs:
I’ve been in a creative match for sometimes 30-45 minutes and have discovered that over the 35-minute mark or 1 hour the glitch starts to happen. Me and my friend have tested this glitch because we set timers for 35-minutes and afterwards our islands would say “Saving”. Even trying to switch islands still keeps it lock in the saving state. Island Backups not working:
With the “Saving” glitch backing up an island doesn’t even work at ALL your progress gets stuck and lost.

This glitch has been occurring before update v40.30 but after the new update it started to affect a LOT more creators in 1.0. The current state of Fortnite Creative feels blindsided by UEFN with all the bugs going on.
Unfortunately the auto saving bug is happening and noticeable in 1.0 as well.
Unfortunately, it did hit one of my builds that I had to rebuild a section again.
I assume to reproduce this bug is to build like anything in 1.0 without making a back up (Maybe something huge like an island), close when Fortnite then come back to the island.
What is expect is what you’ve built should there from last progress but what actually happens, sections of the build is gone.
Hi @Flak, I have the logs available but I’m unable to posts the attachment here on forums since it says “new members cannot upload attachments” is there another way I can send you the logs? I really hope you and the creative team can fix this “Auto-Saving” Glitch, asap. As well as the other glitches like render distance bugs with ch7 terrain galleries, props disappearing, and other major/ minor issues in Fortnite Creative.
I don’t have any of them options available in FNC.
I’m a console player like the majority of players.
My island code is 3522-7369-3876, FNC made, but it’s not in game that is the issue, but the creative session itself, around version 73/74 is when I started getting the issue, but again is not consistent, as it does save some work some times, but fails to on other occasions, I fixed some issues multiple times lol that saving icon in the infinite loop is a clear pre warning sign you’re work will not save from that point, so I been having to monitor for it a lot and jump out when I come across it, it doesn’t happen every session, but does happen every day in at least 1 session , ever since the dates of them versions mentioned above.
Yes, the abandoned toolset! creative 1.0 is released “now you can all have opportunity to fulfil dreams” . Then UEFN was released, now we work in its shadows where just mentioning you used FNC amongst other creators is something we tend to avoid, although epictag it up as so no hiding it. It has been abandoned, there was so much more that could have been done to make a more fair playing field, take terrain for example, uefn almost no memory, FNC… i won’t even say it as yall know it already. yet there was console games in the 90’s that had a terrain generator, you’d set a % ratio for things like tree’s cliffs, roads, waters etc, and it would generate a terrain, if you didn’t like it just hit generate again, here we are in 2026 and yet FNC users have just a few basic defaults to choose from with how many FNC creators using them.

This problem occurs in creative itself, not on live maps, so I dont know why our mapcodes would help anything. After one or two hours in creative it stops saving the map, I do a manual save with the backup feature but then I have “saving…” in the right upper corner for over 5 minutes until it vanishes and nothing got saved. When I just go back to the hub there is “SAVING…” instead of my mapname for minutes. It fails to save after a while in creative. This problem exists for over two weeks now. This need to be fixed asap!
