Hi there,
we are having an issue when we try to send a friend request to a user using the game UI.
To send a friend request we select a user in game and, pressing a button, we invoke the EOS_Friends_SendInvite function, which opens a Social Overlay page with the option of clicking the “Add Friend” button.
If the user does not click the “Add Friend” button but closes the UI without sending the invite, if we try again to send a friend request to the same user, the functions returns a EOS_AlreadyPending status, when the request was not actually sent.
Can this be a setup problem or is this an issue with the overlay? Is there an option to directly send a friend request without opening the overlay?
Kind regards,
Fabio

Hi Fabio,
I can reproduce this issue. It looks like a bug to me. Working on a tentative fix and will speak with the EOS SDK engineering team. Sending friend invites is restricted to the overlay,
Thanks,
Seb

Hi Seb,
are there any news on this bug?

Hi Fabio,
Yes, sorry for the lack of updates here. After working with the EOS SDK engineering team and the Social Overlay team, we identified a potential fix in the Social Overlay rather than the SDK. I don’t have an ETA for a fix, but once it goes out, game clients will automatically pull the updated Social Overlay. I’ll keep an eye on the Jira and let you know once the fix is submitted.
Thanks,
Seb
