Summary
When using the environmental light rig, there seems to be a limited lit region of the island. A video has already been reported by another creator outside the bug forums here: Range of influence of directional light. Fade out bug.
Moving the light rig and ensuring “is spatially loaded” is false has no impact. Given the device is documented to affect the entire island, this appears to be a bug.
Steps to Reproduce
Create an XL island
Place an environmental light rig anywhere and keep default configuration.
Remove/disable any other day cycle controllers.
Start the game and traverse the island.
Expected Result
The landscape should be reasonably lit regardless of player position.
Observed Result
When the player approaches the borders of the XL island, player will no longer be able to see landscape.

Additional Notes
If testing with my island code, I have moved a blocking volume to allow you to see the bug. As a player on team 1 (or as a solo player), enter the teleporter, then exit the outpost. Instead of heading for the facility, turn around and head behind the outpost. You will see a shuttle landing pad. Approach the landing pad, and the environment will instantly turn black.
