EAC: launching a game through Easy-Anti-Cheat bootstrapper results in Windows rebooting

Hello,

we are currently implementing EAC in a UE5 project, and we are encountering an issue when using the EAC bootstrapper to launch the game: a windows popup displaying “Your PC will automatically restart in 1 minute. Windows a rencontré un problème et doit redémarrer. Fermez ce message maintenant et enregistrez votre travail” appears, and the machine automatically restart.

Investigation in the Windows event viewer, the related event seems to be: see attachments files.

The problem is verified on multiple hardware configuration,

  • Gigabyte B560 / i7 11700K
  • ASUS Prime B660 / i7 12700K
  • ASUS TUF GAMING B650-E / Ryzen 9 9950X3D

and different Windows 11 version:

  • 24H2 26100.8037
  • 25H2 26200.8037

But some other machines, with the same Windows version don’t have the issue.

We tried to change the EAC module build version in the Epic Dev Portal, but it did not change anything.

We are using EOS-SDK-41373641-v1.17.0.

Are there some known compatibility problems with specific hardware / software configurations?

Have you ever had some reports of EAC malfunctioning with some antivirus or security softwares?

Do you have any solution we could try to attempt to fix the issue?

Thanks!

Hey again,

we identified the source of the issue:

“Local Security Authority protection” option must be enabled in Windows 11 “Device Security” interface.

Hope this will help future users!

Hey Kevin!

Thanks for getting back to us with this!

I’ll forward this to the devs to see if this is expected and see if we can update our docs!
