Down But Not Out Device won't make players enter 'Down' state

Hello, my name is Guillermo. I’m part of the development team of Spaceboy Mx. We are a creative studio that is starting to learn UEFN and Verse.

We have been working for about 6 months with UEFN. We have been encountering some issues and we are going to start sharing them here. Starting with the Down But Not Out Device.

BUG: Players can’t enter down state.
DEVICE: Down But Not Out Device

A month ago we decided to use this device in order to improve our gameplay in a test map we are currently developing. However, even if we selected the class and teams that were going to be affected by this device. None of the players were getting downed, everyone continued to die.

We paused the development of this map because of some other projects. However, we continued to search for a solution for this device. We ended up finding one yesterday (11/22/2023) on a post on Reddit with an answer from 8-9 days ago (11/13/2023 - 11/14/2023). This user found that the “Any” settings in the Selected Class and Selected Team of this device are bugged.

Unfortunately, the answer we found was from Fortnite Creative. The downside of developing from UEFN and looking for answers directly on the FC UI is that the options are completely different. So, I’m going to share three different screenshots reflecting the changes that we found in the Reddit post. Also, I’ll paste the link for those who want more information for the time being.

Reddit user specifies to change the following settings (in Fortnite):

  • Selected Class: ALL
  • Invert Class Selection: Only Selected
  • Selected Team: None
  • Invert Team Selection: All but Selected
