Here’s my setup:
- Tiled landscape imported from world
machine using world composition.
- 1 directional light set to moveable
and rotated via a blueprint. It’s
set to 2 sided and has a 2 sided
material.
The issue:
The directional light seems to be lighting the landscape from noon to midnight. This occurs when dragging the rotation manually in the editor as well.
Here is a video showing the issue:
Note: When lighting the first person shooter sample arena with the same setup, the lighting/shadows follow the direction of the sun.
Any ideas why the lighting appears to be offset by 90 degrees?
Hi Onyxdeath,
I’ve tested this with 4.7.6 and our internal build of 4.8 and have not experienced this issue with Tiled landscapes from world machine or any other assets.
From the looks of the video this looks like something is not set up in the BP correctly.
I would expect to see the sun shining through the landscape when below though simply because dynamic lighitng is not blocked in this manner. You will need to set the Suns Intensity to be 0 when below the horizon threshold.
I’ve got a simple example project setup here that is based of Gregdumb’s Wiki tutorial: [TUTORIALS] Photons Be Free: Mini-tutorials and other curiosities - Community & Industry Discussion - Epic Developer Community Forums
