[CRITICAL] Voice Chat Becomes Unusable in Large Matches (Again)

Summary

Voice chat becomes unstable (cutting in and out) when many players are in the same match (around 20 players).

This issue was previously reported not long ago and had been fixed, but it is now happening again under the same conditions since the latest update.

Additional Notes

I would also like to highlight my growing frustration with the current state of the game, especially recently. With each update, many systems tend to break, as seen again with the voice chat, even though it had been fixed not long ago.

In addition to DDoS attacks and ongoing bugs, many creators are struggling to keep up. For us, updates are no longer a moment of excitement, but have become a source of constant stress.

Thanks for reporting, the team is taking a look.

This has become extremely difficult to deal with.
Since July 2025, every update from Epic Games seems to introduce more issues than it fixes. Here, I’m mainly referring to the game channel and proximity systems, which have become highly unstable and often unusable after each patch.
And this is only part of the problem. There are many other bugs and issues as well. I’m not listing all of them here, but they are very real, just look at the other tickets and previously published posts for reference.
What’s most concerning is that this isn’t coming from just one creator. With every update, the number of reports increases significantly. At this point, it genuinely feels like the game breaks a little more with each patch.
Under these conditions, creating in Fortnite is becoming increasingly frustrating.
Many creators are starting to question things and compare with other platforms like Roblox.
It’s important to understand that this frustration is real and widely shared. We need stability, reliability, and updates that actually improve the experience instead of degrading it.

You are right, I am constantly stressed and at the same time dealing with the community that simply does not understand that we creators cannot do anything about it.

Jup same here in our Mic Up map.

But just to clarify: This is not a new bug for v40.10. This is the same proximity chat instability that began with v40.00. Proximity chat is broken for almost 2 weeks now.

Your other proximity chat post still says ready for QA for like a week now.
Still waiting for epic to give an update or a fix.

This also happends with smaller matches. Our Mic Up map is max 16 players and voice chat keeps bugging in and out.

Epic This is the third time proximity chat is being broken, We devs have rather stability than new features. This bug is destroying maps.

Our 2.5K averaging island dropped almost 50% in players.
Please fix this @Flak

A few months ago, proximity voice chat stopped working properly for some specific creators when the Delulu update was released. At that time, my map was in a very strong position and, being a social map, this issue had a direct impact on the player experience. As a result, I lost a significant number of players who were simply unable to communicate properly inside the map.

During that period, another creator who did not have this proximity chat issue released a very similar map to mine, and part of my community migrated there, largely because their experience was more stable. The problem was not fixed until the 40.00 patch, which led to my map dropping to essentially 0 players for about two months. Before that issue, my map was consistently reaching over 100 concurrent daily players.

Now the map is slowly recovering, but the fact that there are so many bugs with each update does not help at all. As a creator, this becomes very frustrating, especially because I spend a lot of time moderating my map to maintain a positive and non-toxic environment. Despite that, I end up receiving complaints and even insults from players affected by issues that are completely out of my control, such as the malfunctioning chat.

Overall, it’s a difficult and discouraging situation. I hope that my experience, along with that of many other creators facing similar problems, can contribute to improving these issues in future updates and prevent them from impacting communities so severely.

I was the one who created this thread, and the problem had been solved, but the bug has reappeared since the last update.

Hey the bug wasnt resolved (i wish it was).
Epic never updated proximity chat in the meantime. it is still bugged for almost 2 weeks now.

I confirm the problem is still there and players are mad, because proper communication cannot take place. The problem is not resolved!
