CRITIAL - UEFN crashes every time I try to launch the application/load a project.

I am trying to launch UEFN through the Epic Games Launcher. I had the settings set in UEFN so it automatically loads my project when I launch UEFN. When I go to launch UEFN, the program crashes while it loads my project. I have no option to click any settings options before it crashes. Here is the crash report I am getting:

Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000190

I have tried just about everything I could find online to try and fix the issue but no luck.

Are you able to post your full log here from UEFN? If you can reinstall UEFN that might help. If you are submitting your crashes to the crash reporter I can try and find it there to get a bit more details.
Something that’s happened to me is UEFN having an update or Fortnite having an update that didn’t compelted. I’ve fixed this by closing the launcher then verifying both Fortnite and UEFN.

Hello, I was able to fix this problem, what you have to do is open UEFN, then open a different project or brand new project and once you´re inside, you have to adjust your scability settings to epic and finally open your project that didn´t open previously and it should work. Hope that helps!

This didn’t work for me

Hi, im having this problem 've been experiencing issues since yesterday’s update on September 31, 2023, related to my UEFN project. I’ve been working on this project, but since the update, whenever I launch my UEFN project, the application crashes and I receive the error mentioned below. Unfortunately, I’m unable to perform any tasks in UEFN because when I open the software, the project automatically attempts to open and subsequently crashes.

This is the error:
Fatal error: [File:D:\build++Fortnite\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Util.cpp] [Line: 903] Adapter->CreateCommittedResource(Desc, GetGPUMask(), HeapProps, InCreateState, InResourceStateMode, DefaultState, InClearValue, &NewResource, InName, false) failed at D:\build++Fortnite\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12PoolAllocator.cpp:436 with error E_INVALIDARG

Please use the crash reporter to send that issue in so it can be resolved. In the meantime you can try and manually adjust your ini settings so that UEFN runs in DX11 mode.

or this

This wiki gives a good explanation at how to do it but the file you’d be modifying in this case would be:

<Personal>\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Config\WindowsEditor\Engine.ini

Since you can’t open the editor to set the setting you’d have to change the ini. Additionally please make sure drivers are up to date and that your graphics card supports the latest dx12
