Conversation Device Bugged for Join in Progress

Observed Result

Only the bottom wheel with options show, NPC responses and name do not show

PC, Switch and Next Gen Xbox were broken so I am assuming all platforms.

I can confirm this with the Box convo type as well.

Unsure if this is connected but for some reason the name keeps being hidden by the character device ???

Shouldn’t the conversation device take priority in this case

They is no option on the character device to hide the hud beacon thing

Please fix this when fixing the other issue

Unsure if the bug fixer took note of my issue above

Could you please pass it along as if its getting fixed they could look into this also

The convo device will most likely always be above the character device so it needs to auto to priority on the hud imo or atlease let us disable the beacon on the character device

I dnt see any options to do this atm

Having played about more with the device i have noticed the following

When you have the “Show Name When Nearby” option set it doesn’t show the bubble so this is as expected but the issue is when you don’t have the “Show Indicator Bubble” enabled the distance for “Show Name When Nearby” doesn’t show when you walk away past a few meters.

Ideally the Show Name When Nearby needs to have its own distance field separate from the Indicator Bubble Range that’s the issue here i believe.

FORT-817224 is ‘Closed’ as ‘Fixed’. The issue will be addressed in 34.00.

I’m still seeing this issue as of V 37.00.

I’m seeing some JIP issues as well still. On some JIP games some of our conversations dialog text are not visible. If you chat with other NPCs and then go back to the 1st one it will appear. Never happens on non-JIP games.

Looks like the issue is back again…

I’m also experiencing this issue again for the last few days. But it’s not happening everytime. Sometimes the Conversation device is working correctly for me when I join as a JIP Player and sometimes it doesn’t and I see only a Speaker Name set in the Conversation device and nothing else.

We are also experiencing this issue in private/unlisted versions of our island (we are not yet public) in version 37.20. We are unable to reproduce this in a session started from UEFN. It is specific to players who join a session that has already started.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a session with an island with a conversation device
  2. Interact with the conversation device. It should pop up the UI as expected.
  3. Have a second player join after the session has fully loaded
  4. Have the second player interact with the same conversation device. The player will be locked into the conversation (the character is put in stasis), but the conversation UI does not display. The player can press the Escape key to close the conversation and regain control.

Unless a workaround is discovered, this will block players from progressing in games that require the conversation device.
