Ahhhh it’s graphical. I have 3 separate threads with fixes for similar issues with wildly different solutions depending on user (as DX issues almost always stem from the environment if it’s not overbearing on the GPU). Sometimes it’s a 3rd party app accessing GPU, other times it’s just drivers that need an update, and even sometimes drivers corrupted.
Hello everyone! I’m having trouble launching my project in UE5. whenever I attempt to launch my project, the message “GPU crashed or D3D device removed. Use -d3ddebug to enable D3D device.” keeps popping up. I’ve tried other resources, but none of them seemed to resolve my issue.
The Level is blank besides the model, so I’m assuming it’s the model. I exported it from RC and have a 3070 GPU / AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor, so my laptop can handle it. It was downsized in RC to 4k and 5m polygons, not even 39-40m, so not sure what is suddenly so demanding that UE5 has to crash within seconds of opening the Level.
If it’s relevant to the issue, I only get one texture and one normal map in my export, whereas others’ workflows seem to have several of each.
I have a few projects in 5.03 but nanite stopped trees from moving in the wind so I thought I would try 5.1. Now that I have updated to UE 5.1, I get a warning to enable Shader model 6. If I enable SM6 the UE crashes with a GPU error. There is plenty of GPU memory available. If I don’t enable SM6 and suppress the warning UE works ok.
I am using MSI Radeon RX 6700xt with 12gb and Ryzen 9 5900x with 32gb. win 11 pro installed. DX 12 ultimate has directxcap viewer shows D3D_FEATURE_LEVEL_12_1 and …
