Hi, so I’m new to Unreal Engine and I’m currently working on my landscape. Every single time I add a shape to my landscape, the program inevitably crashes. I really don’t know what to do, I ended all other unnecessary tasks on the computer and freed up more storage in case that was causing it and that didn’t work. My PC is specifically made for gaming but now I’m worried that maybe the issue is that it isn’t equipped to work with Unreal Engine? Any help is much appreciated, thank you
What’s the error?
I’m sure it’s fine for Unreal Engine.
Troubleshooting is just part of the experience.
Hey there @Nwilli60! Welcome to the community! There can be a number of environmental reasons Unreal Engine crashes, a gaming desktop is often one of the best equipped for running Unreal. If possible as Astaraa suggested, could you show us the crash stack trace it gives you when it crashes? You can also find crashes and logs inside the Saved
folder in your project.
make sure you have all the GPU drivers up to date.
Thank you so much for all of your responses! I’m sorry it took so long, the second I actually wanted it to crash it started taking forever to. I took some screenshots of the screens that come up when it crashes, as I’m not sure what they mean.
Ahhhh it’s graphical. I have 3 separate threads with fixes for similar issues with wildly different solutions depending on user (as DX issues almost always stem from the environment if it’s not overbearing on the GPU). Sometimes it’s a 3rd party app accessing GPU, other times it’s just drivers that need an update, and even sometimes drivers corrupted.
Thank you so much! I think the issue was that my drivers hadn’t been updating for a while and I was completely unaware. Sorry for the issue!
