Hello, I’m trying to figure a cheap and effective way to make clouds. I see loads of people showing off their clouds and stuff, but not a single person anywhere can show me a way to make clouds that looks nice and isn’t the most cost effective thing in the world. If anybody can show me something otherwise that would be dandy
Umm… ok.
Are we talking volumetric clouds or ones applied to a dome?
It can be as simple or fancy as you like. You could literally take a cloud filter from photoshop and use that in a material, use it as transparency and base colour, and use a panner on it… You need to be more specific.
Take a look at some examples that come with the engine.
By that I assume you mean cost intensive thing in the world, in which case, welcome to the struggle. Ryan Brucks has some great insight on realtime volumetric raymarched clouds that you may find useful if you’re looking for a fully interactive volume approach.
I suggest (unless you want full weather setups) TrueSky.
Takes 2 seconds to setup. Also, you only need to pay as long as you are wanting to edit the truesky sequence. After that, its free to use as you wish. Might be like $25? maybe $15?
