cant install unreal engine

The + icon for installing Unreal Engine is greyed out - Development / Getting Started & Setup - Epic Developer Community Forums

this is still an issue. I downloaded the launcher, created an account and logged in. The plus button is greyed out. I logged back out, restarted the computer. Deleted the epic games launcher and reinstalled it. Nothing is working. Please fix this if you can, it’s been going on for years already.

Hi there, did you install UE to the C drive or another drive?

Hi @lightroux

The Epic GamesLauncher (EPGL) must be run as right-click “Run As Administrator”.

the simIlar problem was happening trying to load and install Unreal Engine for Fortnite(UEFN).

This is a Windows protection problem. Try installing UEFN which will set up your PC and then you will be able to load other versions of Unreal Engine 5.*

Often the EPGL must be uninstalled and re-installed using right-click “Run As Administrator”, because the cache need to be overwritten

UEFN will not install correctly from Launcher on any Windows 11 (eleven) version needs to run Elevated "Run As Administrator - General / Issues and Bug Reporting - Epic Developer Community Forums

Close the Epic game launcher thin open it as administrator it will work

nope. I even uninstalled and cleaned out all related directories with revo uninstaller advanced scan, reinstalled as administrator, ran it as administrator, and it’s still disabled/greyed out. installing to C, plenty of disk space.
