Can you modify the beam angle of Rectangular Lights, like an "egg crate" or "Grid" effect?

I’ve recently started learning Unreal engine for use in real-time lighting simulation using Lumen for film/tv.

I’m wondering if it’s possible to modify the Rectangular Light so that it has a uniform and controllable beam angle across the whole surface. Similar to how “egg crates” or “grids” are used across soft lighting sources in film and photography, which limit the spread and beam angle of the soft light. These are often billed as having certain beam angles like 60º or 40º

I know the Rectangular light has a Barn Door feature but that only effects the light surface as a whole. Are there workarounds to do what I need? Do I have to use lots of spot lights in an array? Or possibly have to model an “egg crate” to shadow the light?
Thanks in advance!

I’d just model something to cast a shadow, on the off chance you haven’t done much modelling this is how I’d go about it in blender;

  • make a plane
  • go to edit mode
  • select all
  • subdivide a few times
  • hit “I” to inset
  • delete the faces
