Can Vertex Colors Contribute to Lightmaps?

Hi!

I have hand-painted vertex colours on a mesh and the result looks similar to lava (lots of oranges and reds). I have then set a material that uses a ‘Vertex Color’ node plugged straight into ‘Emissive Color’ with a multiplier to boost its intensity.

When I calculate lightmaps, it does contribute to the rest of the scene but the lighting it generates is just white, without the lovely oranges and reds that I painted. I’m wondering, is it possible to make them contribute to the lighting solution somehow?

I would ideally like to avoid externally baking to textures as manually painting the vertices and just working with those would be a big win in terms of speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Generally, certain things in material will have no effect on lightmap baking. If i’m not mistaken, vertex color is one of them.
