Hi,
I have created some templates that I would like to use as a base for future maps.
E.g
- a box fight template
- a 1v1 template
I initially thought I could use these as a base so I didn’t have to redo the work or the settings every time I created a new map.
However after a few months of trying this workflow I’ve noticed that if I publish a map that contains a level that has been duplicated/migrated it never goes into any discover row “Recently Updated” or “New Updates this week”. Ever. Not once.
Where as if I start a map from scratch and publish it enters “New Experiences” or “New in UEFN” and gets an initial ~300 player boost to test the algorithm. I have tested this over and over and I am sure of this.
I have also tried spending a lot of money on TikTok marketing on the duplicate maps getting the players up to around ~300 concurrents to ‘force’ the maps into discover. But they never make it in. It’s almost like they are banned from the algorithm for being duplicated even if a lot has changed.
Is this the case? I can see why Epic would do this to prevent spam however I don’t want to have to recreate maps from scratch every time I start out of fear of not ever getting into discover.
Some of the duplicate maps I have put a lot of hours in and spent a lot of money on marketing and it feels like they are just dead in the water. Nothing can be done to save them as even if I update them they do not get a sniff at discover.
Please could you confirm if this is the case? Should I stop working from my templates and just make maps from scratch each time? I’m very concerned about reusing work from other maps because of this.
Any clarity would be much appreciated.
Thanks
