Build Lighting Only crashes due to high memory usage

I’m reaching out here for the first time because I’m experiencing an issue:

When I do “Build Lighting Only”, Unreal Engine crashes.

My PC has a decent configuration:

  • CPU: i5-10400F 2.9 GHz

  • RAM: 24 GB

  • GPU: RTX 4060 8 GB

  • Disk: 931 GB NVMe free for swap

Here are the details of my scene and what I’ve done:

  • 50 static meshes, mostly under 1000 triangles each

  • All meshes have Generate Lightmap UVs enabled

  • Lightmap Resolution: 16 for all meshes

  • Static Lighting Level Scale: 1.2

  • Indirect Lighting Quality: 0.5

  • Num Indirect Lighting Bounces: 2

  • Lightmass Importance Volume around the playable area only

However, Unreal Engine tries to allocate 98 GB of RAM, and then it crashes.
