I have a racing kart in the garage and that tire looks like a legit kart racing slick
Congrats on the dev grant

Dam wish I had a racing kart for reference of course.
New track is starting to get there. This is the hardest one for the forest theme!

Love it! Can’t wait to play
I noticed your fence is missing a post at the end (0:23 in video). Are you laying out your fence posts manually or using a blueprint to do it for you?
looks AzzaMat. cant wait to play this
Thought I would post a few screenshots of the Night time level! I’m using a blueprint at the moment, though for the fence posts I will probably swap to manual placement.
I love the moon model but it feels really close to the world despite being washed out. Was that intentional?
I’m curious, is there any particular reason behind the decision to place them manually? It seems like it would be less work to use blueprints.
It is intentional, though admittedly its a bit more intense than I wanted. I plan on doing a layer of cloud cover, which I hope will frame it better.
I am placing the posts using blueprint at the moment, but they are quite difficult to line up. The stronger the angle of the spline I draw them along, the more I need to compensate for the angle difference. I may try doing a fix on the blueprint before going through and placing them all.
It reminds me Crash Nitro Kart
Looks fantastic, well done
I will play the hell out of this game. Just for the bears alone…
Really cool project! I do like the art style a lot
Gameplay is looking really fun! great work buddy!
Thanks for the comments Just a small update. Submitted Bears Can’t Drift!? to IndieCade and a few other places. It seems like all the submission deadlines for games are this month!
I Had a bit of free time this evening so I put together this shader + blueprint combo. It takes a mesh and does the shadow of the colossus hair trick to make moss

Don’t know if it will make it into the game as I’m unsure on its efficiency. Need to do some more experimenting. Let me know what you think.
That material is cool! Are you using parallax or some kind of mesh tessellation to do it?
Its actually a trick thats used in games like Shadow of the colossus, Ryse and I think one of the conker games. It consists of multiple masked meshes layered on top of one another. I need to add it to my list of things to make tutorials for
Just ran a performance check on the moss and there is no way it’s going in at its current state back to the drawing board with that one!
Started mocking up the final theme, titled ruins
Taking primary inspiration from kung fu panda, the final theme will have an ancient Chinese vibe with lots of towering bamboo shoots, knarled trees and paper lanterns
I have designed the game so that each theme represents both a colour and a season. The Forest theme represents spring/summer and a green colour palette. Arctic represents winter and a blue colour palette. Ruins represents autumn and a red colour palette.
I am also nearly finished with the base weapon system for all 16 pickups! Just one more to go and a chicken.
Any critique appreciated.
Decided not to submit BCD!? to the intel game awards. They have some very dodgy T&C’s that i’m not comfortable with.
That and I doubt it would run well on a laptop.
You need litte chinese houses and temples with chinsese lanternes and a chinese wall
