Atmospheric fog and directional light ... in space?

I have a project that I’m working out in my head and I’m wondering what to do with the lighting.
It takes place on a space ship that will have very few windows (maybe none). Do I need to include fog and a directional light?
Do I start with them and delete them when I have enough point/spot lights in place to light up my level?

It’s going to be mostly on the Interior of a space ship? You don’t need those. You don’t even need an “outside” to your space ship except for parts that mat be visible through windows. You could set it to unlit while you build your level befor there is enough lights.

Yes. 100% of the game will be inside. The only windows might be in the bridge and the observation deck.

Is it in planetary space or outer space? If space ships revolves around some kind of star then directional light might make sense but not in outer space. Atmospheric fog make no sense in either case.

It will be in outer space, far from any star.
