At turn on shadows the SSAO turns off?

I placed a total dynamic light in the demo scene of Epic sample content and you can see I turn the shadows of the light on/off (Cast shadows) when is on you can see the column that cast shadows to the wall, but when is on cast shadows then the SSAO between the wall and the floor turn off ?

Can someone explain my this ?

Hi Hevedy,

Ambient Occlusion is not expected to work when direct lighting casting shadows is cast onto it. This is also true in real life. When sunlight or a bright light is shining onto a corner or wall/floor there will not be any soft shadowing here.

You can test this more so by making it easier to see the AO by setting a different color, increasing the power or intensity. This will make it easier to see. If you want AO even when directly lit you can use the values in the Post Process Volume to tweak these so they are visible regardless of being directly lit.
