Announcing the 2017 Epic MegaJam

Sorry to be the third person to bring up this topic, but do assets created prior to the contest period need to be sourced and non-original? Or can I use assets previously created by myself, as long as they’re disclosed?

Also, when it comes to development, do I need to disclose things such as lines of code copied from another project for syntax?

Just want to be sure I’m following the rules.

Yes, you can use your own premade assets so long as you disclose them.

The .exe for my packaged game (for Windows 64) won’t run. There is a moment right after clicking where the hourglass appears on the cursor, but then it quickly disappears and nothing happens.
Does anyone know how to deal with this?

You mention in the rules document about copyright infringement and if any sponsor even thinks something might be copyrighted the entry will be disqualified. How does this relate to parodies? My game is set in a supermarket and I’ve got 1 or 2 items that are obvious parodies of other things, they don’t share the same name (even though names aren’t copyright-able I kept them different just in case) and all the artwork is made by me and nothing like the actual products, it’s just a light joke but could it potentially disqualify my game?

Which file hosting sites are preferable for submission?

Considering the OSIG requirement, are GearVR submissions not elegible for submission? Thanks!

If it’s a parody or such, you’ll be fine

Lots of folks typically upload to Google Drive, but as long as I can click the link and download your submission, you’re good.

We’re not accepting GearVR submissions at this time. Good luck!

Hello, I ve made a small game for the jam (GFX and code), and my brother did some music. Should this be submitted as a team of two ? are musicians included as potential prize winners ? Thank you

I want to edit my submission. What should I do? Do you want to rewrite it?

@Amanda.Bott Thank you !

No worries. Good practice either way.

If the game has bloody scenes, will it be disqualified?

Also came here to ask this question. I might have time now to include a gameplay video with the submission but, submitted last night to make sure it would be on time.

Can the video we add in have our teams logo? (I’m leaving it out until I know)

I have the same question

You can include him as part of your team.

Go ahead and re-submit. I’ll see the duplicate and pull it.

Nope - that won’t disqualify you.

You can re-submit. Or I made the responses editable, but I’m not sure if you have a way to access your submission?

You can include it, but depending on how long the clips are we may trim it for the livestream. (In the interest of trying to get all the games seen)

Will we get an email confirming our submissions?

No email bounce back this time. It should pop up with a message wishing you some sleep though

So, the submission is sent and i hope you will like The Tale of The Light Keeper)
