However Vast The Darkness, We Must Supply Our Own Light

“However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.”

thank you so much

Thank you !

re-reading the OP but if someone may have experience with this situation please let me know!

Can we use ue4 assets like textures and materials?

Two and a half hour since the theme was meant to be announced. Is anyone going to tell us what you decided on? Maybe update the original post or something?

Anything that was created prior to the jam that you use needs to be disclosed when you submit your game. Marketplace assets don’t take a team slot, we just need to know you used them.

The original post was updated. “However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.”

I hate to ask a dumb question already, but what does it mean that all art assets have to have a material other than the default applied to it? Does that mean starter content materials have to be customized, or that they just can’t have the checkered worldgridmaterial?

— “ There is a light that never goes out “

We just don’t want to see the checkered material.

Hey I just got around to reading the rules (haven’t looked at them since i used to do jams a lot) I saw this “Submission should not require any additional software to run.” does that include the use of Steam for multiplayer?

I’m the guy who just now remembered the game Jam started… So I got like 2 days to do something. laughs with sick desperation

“Submission must not include assets created prior to the Contest period (outside of noted sourced assets).” - Leads me to ask are assets such as the packs from the Infinity Blade and other Epic provided sets not allowed?

I assume if they are you have to put them in your “premade notes”

They are allowed as the are ‘sourced assets’ - just need to disclose them at the point of submitting your entry.

Oh thank god lol. Because I’m gonna do a small rpg from basically a scratch third person.

I also assume the theme means using lighting in the game as a point of mechanics and not just a storyline or what have you theme. (In my case I’ll be using it in both)

Did anyone recieve a houdini license? How does it even work: I should recieve an email with activation code or should it be added in licences on sidefx website? Because I have none of this, but I signed in like two days before the jam started.

Yep. If you also received one you’ll have received instructions via email already.

So apparently not everyone receives it :frowning:

Check your spam folder. There was a cut-off right as the jam started though.

Nothing in spam
