We’ve been seeing this from time to time, and it only seems to happen on AMD cards. Is this a known issue or is there anything we could look into to debug this?
No real details to speak of other than the AMD GPU detail. Recooking/etc. doesn’t resolve it.
Hi Peter,
We have not seen this type of crash on our side, but based on the log statement and a quick cross-reference in the code, this may stem from a driver issue. Do you know if the affected machines have installed up-to-date AMD drivers? Often, these crashes are patched up by IHVs through driver updates. Otherwise, check the shader assembly code to determine which compute shader caused the compilation error. When a PSO compilation error occurs, the engine will attempt to dump the shader disassembly into a folder in the engine directory (see WindowsD3D12PipelineState::DumpShaderAsm()). Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks Tim. Pretty sure they are on the latest drivers though that wouldn’t rule out a driver issue.
Next time we get a repro of this I’ll look for the shader assembly and ping you again.
Okay, that sounds good. I will close out the case for now, but if you get some new information, feel free to open a new one and link this case to it.
