All the issues with Guards (list + links)

Guard issues:

  1. Massive server lag (Wildlife/Guard Spawners cause extremely high ping on map) Post 2 (with repro): Blocker - Immense lag in game (cant move, cant play) after enabling guard device heard also happens with wildlife.

  2. Cannot be affected by mutator zones (Major - Mutator Zones no longer affect Guards) or damage volumes (second was reported 19 days ago: Damage volume does not affect guards)

  3. When they have multiple weapons in their inventory, they dont swap based on range, they only use one instead.

  4. Changing settings in guard spawner device requires pushing update to live edit

  5. Guards do not attack Creatures (Guards dont attack creatures anymore (after this update) and vice versa) or automated turrets, but attack friendly sentries (Sentry "Friendly Team" option fails with Guards.)

  6. Not chasing player (might be related with Z height, unclear): AI Creatures, Wildlife, Guards not moving/chasing player - #3 by Wertandrew

Auto Turret issues:

  1. When dormant, they cant take damage when ā€œGo dormant if aloneā€ is set to ā€œfalseā€ (Automated Turrets and Guards) (edited)

Thanks for reporting all these issues, weā€™ve brought the engineers into investigating the root causes and fixes.

The following one would be a bit different than others though:

  • When they have multiple weapons in their inventory, they donā€™t swap based on range, they only use one instead.

We donā€™t have multiple inventory item behavior for this atm and the Guard Spawner device would just randomly pick on of the weapon to equip to. We do have a plan to improve this but itā€™s not something arriving shortly.

Also even with guards not spawning it affects any sequences in the map and makes them jerk. When you delete the spawners the issue with sequence goes away. Looks like the device itself is the issue as well.

@Wertandrew I am having issues with lights that do not cast shadows, use small radius, and still create massive lag, or (as your post suggests) it may be my guard spawners.
Please help me! Plunder the caves was taken down due to the fps drop and I could really appreciate your help.

If you have guard spawner and creature spawner massive lag happens >> remove creature spawner

If you have guard spawner and level sequences, then all objects inside it have to have ā€œcan affect navigationā€ to off

Guards have no affect on triggers.

I would like guards to trigger a capture area. It seems triggers cannot be set off with guards.
