ADK v222.5 is out!

You assume a lot, and “assumption my dear, is the mother of all f***-ups” to quote a favourite move of mine. You’ve managed to completely twist my post, so I’m not even going to try and argue what I actually said, because you think you’re right and you’ve made that decision evidently clear by having the audacity to declare me as being aggressive, implying that I attempted to impeach upon civil rights and the brazen insult of calling me a bully… so there’s really no point in me wasting my time in that regard.

I will say the following however, “pretty much” is not the same as “is”… you realise this, right? Laws, especially in relation to consumer protection, are generally not ambiguous… and you know what “pretty much” is? You guessed it, ambiguous. You assume their promises are intentional deceit… what proof do you have for this? Failing to meet a deadline they themselves have set is not false advertising… promising something that cannot ever be delivered OR delivering something other than what was explicitly stated is false advertising.

I’m not defending Wildcards handling of things, they could handle it better but I more than likely would have done the same thing myself based entirely on what was/has been said, but they’re still within their rights. Wildcard’s biggest issue is communication, and I put this entirely down to a lack of a community manager and support staff. Yes, their goals are too ambitious, but they’re trying to make the best of the ***ed up situation they got themselves into.

By the way, my referring to threat was that of a suggestion, if you fail to put two and two together… that’s not on me.

Threat:
a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone/thing in retribution for something done or not done.”
Suggest:
state or express indirectly.

They have gotten so much money in such a short period and yet they still lack the funds to hire a proper community manager or perhaps even managers? Those guys could simply communicate with the other devs then browse the forums both steam and here to let the players know what’s happening.

People have been praying for better communication for the devkit from the start. Most of us are fine with delays as long as we are kept updated on the situation and what is actually happening. At this moment it’s more like a random quote from another site or one liner from a moderator of this forum. And even then it’s something like “update planned for weekend” then the weekend passes and no information is given. No situation reports like “Sorry guys, the devkit has to be pushed back as we have our hands full with the v220 update”.

Again I do get that it’s early access and the devs are hard at work for the game. It’s just that they are providing and promoting their devkit and it really ****** people off when no info about is given. Perhaps it would be better to drop the devkit as a whole if maintaining it is not possible.

Yeah WM, I am dissatisfied with their handling of the situation completely, and honestly, I watched them silence a modder who posted on the steam forums simply with “The promised date/time has passed, what happened” in his post… That kind of stuff isn’t even hostile. It’s just a question, and they silenced him because they didn’t want to answer? Come on. At this point they’re alienating their entire userbase. I get it, they dont do it on purpose, but look at the chain reaction it is and will continue to cause. There are other modders on here who are ****** off at me, some even to the point where they’re removing their mods from steam. These mods may be on servers with large populations, and when the mod is removed from the workshop, the only thing that retains it is the server, the client updates the mod with every start-up of ark, and if the mod is deleted, it will delete the content from the user’s computer… and so on… It’s starting to cause a chain reaction. (Also, deleted mods bug out both steam and ark… they keep trying to download the content even when its gone). The way they’re treating everyone is going to cause more and more problems, and people have a limit on what they’re willing to put up with.

Removing your mods is a really great way to protest. Everyone gets ****** off then. Players will freak out, post like madmen on the forums. The devkit has not been updated in almost a month, that in itself is not acceptable at all.

Any 220.1 content diff yet? github was updated 8 hours ago but I can’t find the content diff.

Nope, it would appear they’ve gotten lazy.

Hey sinari, want to finish what you started? Or have we been left behind… AGAIN.

@WoefulMacabre:
You said you were “not even going to try to argue” and instantly went on to argue. Really makes your words seem worthwhile.

Would it be too much to ask for a FULL list of changes compared to v217? As opposed to a single-point list with one feature…
EDIT: I mean, I know what “generally” changed, Quetz, Mosasaur, breeding system, some items… but it would be very helpful to know which parts of my mod would be affected.

So 220 is now out. Time to find something new to get all angsty about. I question just how much experience some of the folks have here with other projects of comparable scope and size. Considering the early state of the game if I had to choose between exceedingly slow rate of change with very accurate timelines vs quite fast changes but relatively inaccurate (3 days is not much) timelines I’ll take the latter every time. Sure it would be nice to have both but humans are human. Hell McDonald’s can barely get paint by number hamburger orders out quickly and accurately.

So for my part thanks Ark, sure more accurate timelines (or verbal updates) would be nice but not if it means sloppier code or slower release cycle.

Yay, finally. Thanks for the update and hope to see more communication in the future~

@ @: Please find a different game to play. People of your caliber are extremely annoying and you aren’t going to change anyone’s opinion or make the devs react any differently. Accept it or find another game to play. No need for senseless comments to my comment, just take it to heart.

You are children throwing spitballs around the classroom cos the task in front of you is too difficult. The task being called “patience”.
You don’t get early release. You don’t get complex development. You don’t understand how a small team needs to focus on only a few things especially when a deadline slips, and that means compromise. You are under the illusion that more monies_=super fast delivery. As if cash caused a programmer to type twice as fast and cod e to have only half the bugs. You don’t understand that what YOU want is not their priority… because as a “modder” you’re in the minority, which you can’t accept.

You then come here and rant and rage at every opportunity. Case in point: fecking dev kit delayed by a day! A DAY! And you want to spam their reviews with hate. Actually HURT their business because you didnt get…your toy… fast enough.

I wish to god someone would ban you from here as well. It is disgusting behavior.

I’ve reported at least this and hope it gets you out of our sight:

Ah psycology… gotta love it. Typically there’s kids that throw tantrums when they dont get what they want and kids who don’t. Do the kids that throw tantrums get things any faster than the kids that dont? Nope. In fact it makes you want to give them whatever they are asking for even less. Then, typically the kid cries and throws fits until they cry themselves to sleep. Lets be adults. If anyone has managed a development team then you know about resources, bandwith, priorities, stretch goals, etc. Just because their priorities aren’t the same as ours doesn’t mean they are evil or inefficient. I do believe the communication can be improved but honestly that is the only ‘problem’. When you bought the game you didnt pay for an updated dev kit or a dev kit at all. You paid to be a part of a game in development. Anything else is a privilege and not something you deserve or entitled to.

Patience always wins!

There has to be a joke in here about baby’s and the new 219/220 devkit support for dino babies but for the life of me I can’t find it. So yada yada mythical man month build up, random punchline about mammoth eggs, queue polite applause.

Will the Epic Games version be updated today as well, or tomorrow?

Honestly though, with how they treated people asking about it on the steam forums, they actually spent MORE TIME deleting threads and banning people than it would have to make a verbal update. I counted over 50 threads (and more than 50 individual posts) that were deleted, and the were also banning the people posting in these threads. Lets say it takes 1 minute to delete a thread/post and 1 minute to ban someone. 100+ minutes wasted deleting threads and posts, and another 50+ wasted banning poeple. When a simple verbal update would have taken two minutes. So, instead of verbally updating us, they had a DEV, who should have been programing spend 2.5+ hours digging through the forums, deleting threads and posts and banning people, even if the posts weren’t against steam’s rules (even if they were just a question about the ETA being updated). So yeah. That’s programming time down the drain. Their moderation methods actually slowed down the release cycle and may have made the code sloppier. And dont even get me started on digging up his own posts with the promised release date/time and deleting them.

So congratulations ARK DEVS, not only did you alienate a bunch of people, but you managed to pull one of your devs off of the game to do it.

I don’t believe your numbers. I’m a regular on the steam forums and I only saw a few threads about the devkit and only few that were closed, namely yours (and presumably 's clone) because you were being an *** and a 6 page one started by FairlyGrimm that was closed after it turned into an argument between players.

You can just search for ‘devkit’ on the forum and see there are 16 pages of threads with that string anywhere in the thread and then repeat the search without deleted posts (you know you can search deleted posts right ?) and there are still 16 pages and exactly the same number on the 16th page. So no deleted posts.

I went through all 16 pages of threads and found FairlyGrimms closed post and one other that was sort of related closed post. All the other locked threads were old stale question and update threads that are naturally locked and a ***** session thread about spinos from a month or so ago that happened to have the string ‘devkit’ in one post. It took a while longer to find your closed post because the string ‘devkit’ doesn’t actually appear in it but the thread is still there in a very non-deleted state.

So no, not 50 in fact 0 deleted posts. And 2 closed posts, your douchbaggery one and FairlyGrimms which had long since stopped being about the devkit and turned into a **** throwing contest.

Just give it a rest or at least stop making **** up.

Those are assumed numbers. either way it takes LONGER to do what they did, than to post the information that we were seeking.

Hey guys,

There’s some things going on here that need to be curbed right now as they are not appropriate. I’m all for free speech, and voicing your opinion, BUT in doing so, you NEED to be respectful. There has been a few lines I feel have been crossed by quite a few parties involved in the thread banter here, and that needs to stop.

I’m not handing out any warnings other than this verbal one right now, BUT if things continue to spiral out of control, I will do what I need to do as a moderator to keep the community clean & toxicity free.

Here’s a few basic rules to follow and you won’t find yourself getting a warning (first offense)/suspension(continued offense(s));

  1. Be respectful. I understand being frustrated, but lets face it; taking your frustrations out on others is not cool or acceptable. Also everyone deserves a basic level of respect.

  2. Don’t take voicing your opinion to the next level and get close to hate speech. Again, there is ways of expressing you being displeased that don’t involve hatred.

  3. Don’t be toxic. Goes hand in hand with all of the above.

PS: For anyone thinking us moderators have control over when updates come out, you are mistaken. I’m a moderator, that is all, and I don’t work for Studio Wildcard as an employee either to be clear. I’m a volunteer, helping when I can :). As moderators the dev’s let us know, when to let you all know, that the update should be out (never a guarantee it will come out then on Epic Games Launcher, as Epic Games pushes the updates that Wildcard sends to them, and they have their own working hours), and then we let you know :slight_smile:

On that note;

Play nice & have a great day everyone
