After a lot of cussing and frustration I finally streamed the level on a new level (in a camera view where to lights arent seen, unlit mode) and edited everything then i can now open it.

If I may ask, how many lights and how did you end up with so many lights?

oh like 50 in one wall and another 30 or so in the ceiling. Because it was a cove light and i have no way to make it other than put lights one by one. wall and ceiling are both curved.

emissive dont work well either. i hope they wwould make something like in vray. light to mesh.
ceiling:

wall

i just duplicated the level multiple times and make sequencer separately so it wont be all lights in one file.

I thought the limit was something above 200 lights for lumen. And pathtracer shouldn’t have that limit at all AFAIK.

I don’t think this should be crashing. And not being able to open the level afterwards sounds scary.

Edit: in your first post there is a reference to some nanite file. Could be nanite related rather than many lights. Or a combination of the two.

It did have some other lights scattered over the whole level probably around 50 or so.

yeah it was so frustrating especially since I was like 95% done at that point and all that was left to do was add lights and do the sequencer. I wanted to cry and smash things at that point. Then I recall this tutorial I watched before about streaming levels that are too detailed so it will only be called when your camera is near so i tried that and luckily i can edit the level there as well while streamed. i just had to be careful to not have it in lit mode and not look at the lights lmao.

I even tried opening the .umap file in note pad and search for the point lights and maybe i could delete them. turns out you cant do that - unreal gets stuck in loading when you edit the umap. or even open it and not edit and save. it will never open again. good thing i cloned the project first before doing that cos that wouldve been it.

I also found out. that if you open a different level and set it to unlit. then open another level that was savd on lit. it will open in unlit mode!

yeah i didn’t understand that as well it kept saying nanite in the crash reporter.
