since the last update, i can no longer drag material to plane anymore.. is this a glitch or is their a setting i messed up? also before after importing my title lets say like a weopons font it would also add the transparent background but now it also adds the whole background.. help?:

I got the latest version of the engine, after a fresh install, and the drag&drop feature is working as intended:
Have you tested this in a particular map? If so, open a test map (like FPS), and check if it works there. In case the feature is not working on any map, you could be encountering external interference from an unlikely source.
There have been multiple cases about overlays affecting UE functions in strange ways, like visual glitches, or not being able to interact with certain menues or functions. So, I would suggest checking your system for any active overlays (nVidia Exp, XBOX Game Bar), specially Discord’s one, as that particular one tends to be the main cultrip.
If the problem persists even after disabling all overlays, you can “Verify” your install from the launcher’s dropdown menu, or test rolling back to UE’s previous update.
As a last resource, I woul suggest a full uninstall/reinstall of all Epic software from your setup:
- First, uninstall the engine, launcher, any asset packs, etc
- Next, open the registry directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic Games\Unreal Engine\Builds, and delete any build entries
- Finally, delete the folders %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine and %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealHeaderTool
- After that, no elements related to UE should be left in your system
- Now, reinstall UE launcher from scratch, and only add the latest version of the engine (in this case, 5.7.1, you can add older versions after)
- After the process is complete, open a test map, and drag a material to the scene
